E1 TEAM MIAMI – LAKE COMO OVERVIEW

Lake Como, IT. (Aug 24, 2024)

E1 Lake Como proved to be one of the most stunning race locations of the season, with the beautiful Villa D’Este Hotel as the perfect backdrop for high-speed action on the water. The weather was perfect, and competition was fierce.

Italy holds a special place in the heart of Team Miami. It is the birthplace of partner, Azimut Yachts who founded their company here in 1969 as well as the debut site of the E1 Series RaceBird in 2022. We were thrilled to have members of the Azimut team join us for this milestone weekend, celebrating a shared passion for performance, innovation, and sustainability.

The weekend started strong with Team Miami securing P3 on Qualifying Day, putting us in prime position for race day. However, drama struck in the pits early on Finals Day as a hidden fault line in a critical component was discovered. All boats were lifted for emergency repairs, with Team Miami Victory Team engineers stepping up to collaborate closely with SeaBird Engineers and the UIM to resolve the issue.

When the semi-finals got underway, things took an unexpected turn with Anna Glennon’s race being red-flagged and cut short due to a pilot hitting a Smart Mark. Meanwhile, Erik put on a stellar show, battling back from a false-start penalty to take the win in his semi-final. Unfortunately, despite the victory, we missed out on advancing to the final, finishing 7th overall.

The highlight of the weekend was a celebrity head-to-head exhibition race between fellow Team Owners, Will Smith (Westbrook Racing) and Rafael Nadal (Team Rafa). Both of their teams went on to secure podium finishes in a race that attracted major media attention. If it couldn’t be us, we were glad to see them up there (LINK TO THE VIDEO)

On land, we were excited to announce a new partnership with ZPointOne, a luxury car and event service provider that ensured our team traveled in comfort throughout the weekend.

While the results on the water didn’t go as planned, it was an unforgettable weekend for Team Miami. We move to 3rd place in the championship, nestled not far behind Team Brady in first position and Westbrook in second.
