TEAM MIAMI COMPLETES AN ELECTRIFYING INAUGURAL SEASON IN E1 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
Team Miami has closed out an exhilarating first season in the E1 World Championship, making waves and earning podiums around the globe. In a season full of highs and learning curves, our pilots Anna Glennon and Erik Stark, with the immense support from Team Owner, Marc Anthony, embodied the spirit of resilience and innovation, pushing the limits of electric powerboat racing. As the world’s first E1 series drew to a close, Team Miami stands tall as one of the championship’s fiercest competitors, securing a well-earned third-place finish in the overall standings.
Kicking Off with a Bang in Jeddah
The season opened in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where Anna and Erik proved their speed and skill by seizing Pole Position in qualifying (the first ever in E1 history) and securing a spot in the Super Final. A close-fought battle saw Team Miami claim 2nd place on the podium, along with the fastest lap honors for both Erik and Anna. The stage was set for a promising season. “What a race weekend… we are proud to have taken podium in the first-ever E1 race!” Erik exclaimed, kicking off the season on a high note.
Venice: Lessons and Points in Italy
Racing in the picturesque canals of Venice, Team Miami showed adaptability and determination, with Anna leading a celebratory parade through the Grand Canal and Erik capturing a victory in his heat. Despite some race day challenges, Team Miami fought fiercely, securing valuable points to maintain their championship standing. “Not our best weekend, but we learned a lot in Venice, and every time we get in the RaceBird, the meter resets,” said Anna, looking ahead with her trademark optimism.
Triumph in Puerto Banús
In Puerto Banús, Marbella, the team notched their first victory of the season, propelling Team Miami to the top of the championship leaderboard. In choppy waters, Anna and Erik showcased peak performance, ultimately delivering a masterclass in electric powerboat racing. Team owner Marc Anthony, on hand to witness the win, summed it up: “I am incredibly proud! I knew we had to fight, fight, fight!”
Challenges and Camaraderie in Monte Carlo
Monte Carlo proved to be a test of grit for Team Miami, with technical difficulties and unexpected penalties keeping the team from reaching the finals. Nonetheless, it was a memorable weekend on land, where Team Miami hosted notable guests from our partners, Azimut Yachts and Bulova, and welcomed HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco. Despite a tough race, CEO Robert Jakobi commended the team, noting, “In racing, every day is a chance to learn, and we’re committed to coming back stronger.”
Lake Como:
A Fitting Finale The final race in Lake Como delivered stunning views and fierce competition. While technical issues limited our results, Anna and Erik gave the crowds a thrilling display, with Erik taking a heat victory despite a setback. The weekend also included an exciting celebrity face-off featuring team owners Will Smith and Rafael Nadal, adding excitement and media buzz. Team Miami introduced a new partner, ZPointOne, further solidifying our commitment to excellence on and off the water.
Looking Back and Moving Forward CEO Robert Jakobi captured the team’s spirit in his season summary: “Team Miami’s inaugural E1 season has been a journey of passion, resilience, and achievement. Anna and Erik’s hard work and the support of our partners and fans made it all possible. We look forward to building on this momentum next season and continuing to redefine the future of electric powerboat racing.” From our victories to our challenges, Team Miami has proven itself as a top competitor in the groundbreaking E1 series.
