FIRST ROUND HIGHS AT THE E1 JEDDAH GP
Team Miami raced exceptionally well in the opening weekend of the E1 UIM World Championship first round of Season 2. Supported by a brand new Operations Team, Team Miami felt strong and confident going into Qualifying on Friday in Jeddah. The team used all the new timing data and insights obtained from our Official Testing to secure a really admirable qualifying position of P4.
On Raceday, pilots Erik Stark and Anna Glennon, lead the RaceBirds with fantastic starts in each of their races, resulting in a 1st and 2nd respectively. This put us in pole position for the Race Off. After another fantastic start, Erik shot ahead to lead the pack. The team needed first, second or third to progress to the final. Sadly, a controversial protest regarding the racing line was submitted and we received a long lap penalty. We subsequently slipped from 1st place to 5th. The team protested and it was reviewed by the UIM but it was not upheld and we were subsequently moved into the Place Race. Anna gave the race of her life to win her first ever E1 race and got us the best result available – P6. We received 13 Championship Points and Erik secured the fastest lap of the day meaning we also gained a point for this.
Of course we would have liked to have had our chance in the final, but it wasn’t meant to be this race. The new team came together really well and we are stood in good stead for the next race in Doha next month.

LeBron James has officially announced a new team in the UIM E1 World Championship presented by PIF. Team AlUla Championed by LeBron James, is set to join the fleet for the first time this weekend. Named after the ancient oasis city in Saudi Arabia – a growing luxury heritage boutique destination and home to Hegra, the Kingdom’s first UNESCO World Heritage site – will be piloted by racers, Rusty Wyatt and Catie Munnings.
