Team Miami announce 2024 Pilots
MIAMI, FL (Jan. 11, 2024) – E1 Team Miami, the recently established electric powerboat racing team under the leadership of Grammy Award-winning artist Marc Anthony, has unveiled its powerhouse pilot line up for the 2024 E1 World Championship. Operated by the renowned Victory Team, a heavyweight in powerboat racing, Team Miami is set to make waves with the inclusion of 6-time powerboat World Champion Erik Stark from Sweden, and World and 8-time National Champion professional watercraft (Jet Ski) racer Anna Glennon from the United States to the starting lineup for the first season.
The E1 World Championship is the first all-electric powerboat racing series, and features one-of-a-kind electric hydro-foil boats – dubbed the RaceBird. With a focus on championing the future of electrification and preserving our water ways, the E1 World Championship seeks to provide a show unlike any the world has seen. The inaugural season will kick off on February 1st 2024 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia before embarking on a world tour.
Erik Stark joins E1 Team Miami as part of Victory Team’s partnership. Erik is a professional powerboat racer and multi world champion, with over 23 years’ experience driving boats. Erik started his career in boat racing at the age of 12 and is the most decorated Swedish powerboat racer of all time. Erik still holds the world record for winning four consecutive World Championship titles in F2 powerboat racing and has been awarded the King’s Jubilee medal. In 2014, he transitioned to X-Cat, Formula 1 and Class 1 power boat racing and has been driving for the Dubai-based Victory team since 2019. In 2023, he finished the F1H20 World Championship season as the vice world champion.
Anna Glennon will be racing alongside Erik Stark. Anna is no stranger to winning as she enters the E1 Series as a World Champion and 8-time US and Canadian Champion. Originally from Overland Park, KS, Anna grew up at her family lake home on the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri which is where she first developed her skills on the water, later moving to Lake Havasu City, AZ to continue her training in the “Personal Watercraft Capital of the World”. Anna won her first national championship during her first full season of racing in 2013. To date, she is the only woman in IJSBA history to win the Men’s Classic Two-Stroke World Championship title.
The two pilots will receive expert guidance from the internationally acclaimed Victory Team who will be leading the technical and operational aspects of the team. The Victory Team, based in Dubai, boasts a remarkable 30-year history in watercraft racing and an impressive collection of 25 World Championship titles. In collaboration with E1 Team Miami, Victory Team is contributing a dedicated team principal, two highly skilled mechanics, a performance engineer, and Erik Stark as their designated pilot.
E1 Team Miami Co-Owner Marc Anthony said: “I am excited to introduce my E1 drivers and proud to have Erik Stark and Anna Glennon as members of our team. They both have impressive careers and amazing work ethics. I am proud of their achievements in the field and we are more than ready to bring revolution to the water and offer the fans a show they’ve never seen before.”
